How to prepare your family to survive and thrive in todays uncertain world

A Few Comments on Recent Events

Like I said yesterday, there’s quite a few things going on in the world that aren’t getting much attention with the problems over in Japan. Let’s talk about a couple more.

North Korea Gets Antsy

“Bad Stuff” is still happening over on the Korean peninsula. The North Koreans have been disrupting GPS receivers using a Russian GPS jammer. The goal of these antics is to disrupt South Korean communications during ongoing military training exercises.

Of course this affects civilian gear as well, and several large metropolitan areas are affected as well. Go figure.

Now to make matters even more entertaining, South Korea believes that North Korea is very close to completing an EMP bomb. And we all know what that sort of thing can do.

And of course we know that the North Koreans would NEVER give weapons and technology to folks that don’t like us, right? Oh wait….they like to do exactly that…

TSA Strikes Again

So the TSA has long claimed that the naked body scanners deployed in about 80 domestic airports are perfectly safe.

The radiation levels that you’re subjected to is no problem at all.  So they say.

Well, we just found out that the scanners are generating 10x more radiation than they’re supposed to.

Of course this is supposedly just an error by the people measuring the radiation, and the scanners are perfectly safe!

Remind me again why we put up with these people?

Slaughter in Itamar

This last one is something I wasn’t sure if I’d talk about because it is extremely disturbing. But I felt it was something that people need to understand, as ugly as it is.

This is very difficult to write about because I have kids in the same age range as the Fogel family.

On March 11 Palestinian terrorists walked into the home of an Israeli family and brutally slaughtered them. A family with five children.

The terrorist slaughtered the parents, ages 36 and 34, and two of the children. A four year old boy and a young infant girl.

Thankfully two of the other children, an eight year old and a two year old, were sleeping in the other room and were missed.

The fifth child, their twelve year old daughter, was at youth group at the time, and when she came home she walked into the house to find her family members slaughtered.

Predictably, the Palestinians rejoice and celebrate in the streets. Folks, this is the face of militant Islam. There are people out there that would love to see this kind of violence and terrorism come to our shores.

Here’s a few links to stories with more details. I’m warning you ahead of time, though. The survivors and relatives of the Fogel family have released graphic photos of the scene. They are extremely disturbing, but the family feels that it is time for people to see just what the terrorists are doing, instead of brushing it under the table.

From their news release:

These photos were released by the family. They have given full permission for their use and they to ask you to report on the horrific reality of murdering children and babies in their sleep, simply because they are Jewish.

You can find the details here (no graphic images on this one), here (graphic images on this page), and here (graphic images on this page).

  1. Rudy, it does seem as if the news has been all bad lately and I was horrified by the slaughter of this settlement family as well as deeply saddened by the recent catastrophe in Japan.

While keeping abreast of all current events, I find myself having to take a step back occasionally to maintain a sense of balance. It helps me to keep perspective to take these breaks and enjoy the simple things, as well as reminding me how grateful I am for all my small blessings. It could all disappear in a heartbeat.

  2. Hey Rudy,

I really believe we are seeing the end times here. Really though, I don’t believe we’ve seen anything yet. I’m probably preaching to the choir but get ready, both mentally and physically. Try to think of every possible scenario that may apply to your situation.

  3. I agree with everyone, but if you think things are looking bad in the United States and around the world these days, just wait and see how bad things will get if obama is re-elected in 2012. Does anyone have a civil war II scenario?? I truly believe it will be our only solution to salvage what is left of our country if we can not elect and American as president and send obama back to Kenya in 2012. Americans will have to stand up and be counted before its to late. So the word for the day is PREPARE.
