The ‘busting the income inequality’ article shows a meaningless graph; it only covers less than 20 years, when, if you look at the longer range back to the 70′s, the income disparity in the US has been growing steadily.
If you only look at recent data, you will miss the long-term trend. It’s the same issue with looking at only recent weather data; if you don’t look over the long term, you will miss the trend toward higher temps. It is much like proof-texting to get the Bible to say what you want, ignoring actual context.
It never surprises me how people manipulate data to make points. It would surprise me if they didn’t
