  1. Coming from a person who: (1) also couldn’t get a job in the field of my degree program after graduation and (2) feel like the university system was less than honest about many common issues faced by students, I can relate to the man in your article “Colleges asserts that your degree is not actually yours”
However, I did the right thing after failing to find well-paying career employment within 6 months of graduation. Instead, I found a low-paying job in the construction industry and worked my butt off to support my family, pay my bills and repay those college loans. Unlike so many others, I paid off all of my debts and developed the skills I needed to make a career out of the situation I was in. Working in the construction industry has never let me down; I’ve been unemployed exactly 1 week in the past 27 years and that was of my own choice.
So I don’t feel any sympathy for that person who can’t get a copy of his transcripts because he is a dead-beat and wants to run up some more bad debt. You can’t have both freedom and irresponsibility; grow up and start paying those loans, then ask humbly for a second chance and a copy of those transcripts!
